Hazardous Routes

What are Hazardous Routes?

Each year, LISD Transportation staff analyzes and reviews the recommendations regarding transportation services for areas deemed “hazardous” within the 2-mile radius of the schools.

These recommendations are based on Board Policy using a rating instrument developed by a community advisory committee to study hazardous conditions.

The Board approved the above-defined hazardous routes and the discontinuance of bus service for non-hazardous areas for the 2018-2019 school year. This will not impact transportation service provided for special needs students when specified in the Individual Education Plan.

2018-2019 School Year

Due to improvement of safe routes, transportation service will not be provided in 2018–19 for certain neighborhoods zoned to the following schools:

Leander High School

Within 2 miles of the school to the east of Bagdad Road and north of Crystal Falls Parkway. This includes the streets in and around Los Vista Drive, Bonita Verde Drive, High Chaparral Drive, and S. West Drive due to the completion of sidewalks along Bagdad Road within the last two years. Map

Cedar Park Ranchettes and Deerfield Park neighborhoods due to the completion of sidewalks along Bagdad Road within the last two years. Map

Within 2 miles of the school in the Fairways neighborhood due to the completion of construction in the neighborhood. Map

Naumann Elementary School

Cypress Bend Neighborhood with the addition of crossing guards to assist students crossing Cypress Creek Road. Extended school zone time frames along Cypress Creek Road to include elementary school hours have been recommended. Bus service was grandfathered for the 2017-2018 school year due to no changes in the "Not Eligible for Transportation" zone (NET Zone) and an oversight by administration. Map

Reed Elementary School

Regal Parc Apartments due to the completion of an access gate between the apartments and Reed Elementary. Map

Running Brushy Middle School

Timberline East neighborhood. The addition of crossing guards to assist students crossing Bagdad Road at Osage Drive has been recommended. Map

Along Oakwood Drive, Adrian Drive, Castlewood Trail and Oak Hollow Drive due to the completion of sidewalks along Bagdad Road within the last two years. Map

Coventry, High Meadows and Deerfield Park neighborhoods. The addition of crossing guards to assist students crossing Bagdad Road at New Hope Drive has been recommended. Map

Cedar Ridge Apartments. The addition of crossing guards to assist students crossing Bagdad Road at Osage Drive has been recommended. Map

Note: The 37 routes under the "Continuance" label received transportation last year, and since there have not been significant improvements to these areas, they will continue to receive transportation for the 2018-2019 school year or until conditions change.
